Hello all!! Yes no posting for this week was done :( I KNOW I SUCK!! Lol, anywho...just thought I would stop by quickly to explain why ;)
Crunch time is now, and its consuming my life!! So many projects, to the point that ripping ones hair out seems like a good option. With me trying to stay on top of the Exams and projects I have due next week I have not had time for the things I like to do, for example, my blog. It sucks, but you know what, I only have a week left ;)
Also prepare yourself for another surprise ;) it will be posted this weekend, along with my usual ladies. As for this week, I'm the hero of the week...pff, haha, with the amount of hours I've been putting into my school work, and the lack of sleep, why not!!

Busy busy busy, its getting hard to find time to do my blog ;) but thats ok, a couple days late isn't too bad.
This weeks featured ladies are: Colleen Coover and Jan Duursema!
This weeks Superhero is.............Wonder Woman! Wonder Woman is strong, beautiful and many fans favourite Superhero. Wonder Woman is a member of an all-female tribe of Amazons(based on the Amazons of Greek Myth) and was created by Marston as a "distinctly feminist role model whose mission was to bring the Amazon ideals of love, peace, and sexual equality to 'a world torn by the hatred of men.'"Her powers include super-strength, super-speed, super-stamina, super-agility, and flight. She is highly proficient in hand-to-hand combat and in the art of tactical warfare. She also possesses an animal-like cunning and a natural rapport with animals, which has in the past been presented as an actual ability to communicate with the animal kingdom. She uses her Lasso of Truth(which forces those bound by it to tell the truth), a pair of indestructible , and an invisible jet, which was later replaced with an ability to fly unaided. When DC fans are asked to list the main DC superheroes they will list, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman ;)
Colleen Coover - Artist
Colleen is best known for her lesbian-erotic comic books: Small Favors and Eros Comics. She is also known for her work on several X-Men First Class comics for Marvel.
Jan Duursema
Known for her work on the Star Wars comics franchise. She was the creator of Denin and Vila from Naldar, the Twi'lek Jedi Aayla Secura and the Kiffar Jedi Quinlan Vos.
This semester is flying by, and well I'm uber busy! But still finding time to work on my blog is something I work very hard at doing ;)

Elaine Lee-Writer and Colorist
Elaine Lee had worked for Vertigo, Marvel, and Darkhorse. She is best known for the writing she did on Starstruck, Vamps for Vertigo comics, and Indiana Jones and the Spear of Destiny for Darkhorse. She's not just a talented comic book writer though, she is also an actor, a playwrite and a comic book colorist.
Nancy A. Collins-Writer
Nancy is well known for the horror novels and comics that she has written. She has written for Swamp Thing, Jason vs. Leatherface, and a Predator graphic novel.

Anywho, back on track again with things :) Sorry for the hiatus last week, as I said before reading week was a bit crazy so I didnt have time to feature two ladies. But this week we're back on track and the two ladies of the week are: Devin Grayson and Sarah Byam!!!
The superhero featured this week is JEAN GREY! Also known as Jean Grey-Summers, Marvel Girl, Phoenix and Dark Phoenix. Jean was one of the five original X-Men characters when the comic came out in 1963. She is a powerful mutant, as Jean and even moreso when she becomes Phoenix. She has telekentic and telepathic powers. I actually just read her 'death', or you could say rebirth, in X-Men Vignettes. During a mission in space the X-Men faced death as they had problems re-entering Earth. Jean gave her life to save her friends and her husband. The solar radition practically killed her, but she held on with her willpower for moments after. This is when the cosmic entity Phoenix took Jean’s form and life while allowing her original body to heal, and well...during this time Phoenix went crazy with power, killed many and really screwed with Scott and the rest of the X-Men's minds. But you know, she came back eventually, lol. All in all, Jean was always one of my favourites growing up. While watching the old X-Men cartoons in the 90's I always loved her abilities and her and Scott's relationship...and well Wolverine and how he liked her. Jean is powerful, smart and well, pretty bad ass :)
Devin Grayson - Writer
Devin Grayson has a natural talent when it comes to writing for character of Gotham city. She has worked on series including: Gotham Kingihts, Nightwing, Catwoman, and many other Batman related characters. She isn't just a Gotham girl though, she has also done work on the Teen Titans, JLA and work for Vertigo and Marvel.
Sarah Byam - Writer
Sarah is known for her work during the 1990's. She wrote for many different publishers. She has worked on Black Canary, Mode Extreme, Glyph, and other series. Her work on Billi 99 landed her with a nomination for an Eisner Award in 1992.
Well my reading week is now over :( time to buckle down and get back to work I guess. This weeks blog will be different due to the fact that I was so busy with homework and catching up on sleep during my break. I also made a video for my blog over the break for my third project for my time based art class!! Check it out!! Oh right and this weeks blog will be a bit different because well, no new posts other then this little side thought and my video I posted ;)

My reading week has begun :D and over the break I have a project to work on for this blog! I will me making a movie, I dont want to be giving to many details, but I will be posting it within the next two weeks.
This weeks awesome femmes of the industry are: Gail Simone and Nicola Scott!!
(I'm going to assume that if you have been following my blog that you will have noticed I will be featuring 2 a week and a hero instead of 3)
This weeks 'superheroine' is.......Buffy Summers!! The Vampire Slayer! I just couldn't help myself, Buffy has been my idol since I was 5 when the show came out!! She embodies power, and she is a strong woman to look up to. Joss Whedon (who created the character) wanted to bring a strong woman into the spotlight, and he did. The show was a hit, and fans followed Buffy and her friends as they grew up fighting Vampires, killing demons and saving the world on more then one occassion for 7 seasons. After the show was over it was carried out into the comics, WHAT A RELIEF! As a huge Buffy fan I don't know what I would do if I could not keep following this character. The comics go into 'season 8' and is carried on right from the show. There are also Omnibus' of Buffy and other comics that have branched off from the show (ie. Willow and Tara comics, feautered last week ;) go check it out). Buffy may not wear tights and fly, but personally, I think thats another reason why she is so admirable. She doesnt have to be displayed in skantily clad clothing like so many other females in comics or just in general to be powerfull. All I can say is that if I could aspire to be like one person..well it would be Buffy! If you haven't watched the show...well whats wrong with you?? Call me up and I'll lend you my seasons, we need to fix this!!! :) Everyone have a good week!
Gail Simone-Writer
Gail has a great writing style, she pulls readers in with the humour and believability of the characters. She has worked on Birds of Prey, Deadpool, and more recently Wonder Woman. Gail Simone also made a site called 'Women in Refrigerators', this site takes a look at the differnt women in comics who haven't met very lucky endings. I would definitely recommend picking up one of her comics, or atleast taking a look at her site!
Nicola Scott - Artist
Nicola is an Austrailian comic book artist. When I first got into comics she was one of the first females in the industry that I found out about. She is a talented artist, some of the comics she has done include: Birds of Prey, Secret Six, and Blackest Night:Wonder Woman.
It just seems so crazy how fast time flies! I'm already onto my fourth week! THE HEROINE OF THE WEEK IS...........Storm!! Talk about a strong female! When asking friends to name of favourite women superheroes Storm seems to be one of the most popular. She is one of the most well known X-Men, often acting as a leader or a key person of the X-Men. When first coming on the scene in 1975, many colleagues of her creators Len Wein and Dave Cockrum were skeptical. They thought that the white hair was odd, and may have made her seem old looking. But they were wrong, fans loved the character and found that the white hair was suiting for the character. With the power to control the weather Storm is a very powerful X-Men and strong female role in Marvel Comics, and whether she is going through her full white outfit stage or her mohawk stage, she will always be loved by the fans.
Amber Benson- Comic Book Writer, Actress, Film Director and Producer
Amber Benson played the loveable character Tara on the hit TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But not only is she a talented actress but she also helped to write Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Willow and Tara comics.
Tara McPherson- Illustrator
Tara has a unique style that has made her stand out in the industry. She has worked for different companies like DC comics and Dark Horse. She also did a comic for 1001 Nights of Snowfall, and personally I think it is very well done!
On a side note** I found a video with Karen Berger (featured week two) talking about Vertigo Comics, thought people might enjoy it :)
